from the text of the proposal submitted to the competition for the creation of a logo for the brazilian studies institute at universidade são paulo:

'the submitted logo designs the first and most universal visual sign of the country - the national flag - without adding anything to the 'ieb' acronym. 

the first action was to reduce the national flag to its basic geometric shapes: square, triangle, circle.

from there, all we need was to add a horizontal line to the triangle and a vertical one to the circle to write "ieb".

the resulting form, the half-flag, becomes interesting for being asymmetric and dynamic.

it is of an almost primitive simplicity and at the same time singular.
