we created the visual identity for estúdio oca, a small music center opening up in pinheiros, são paulo.
to avoid repetition, our idea was to create a visual identity for the space as opposed to a logo.
this identity hinges around some formal play on the word ‘oca’, which means ‘hollow’ in portuguese. we led with a large black ‘o’ set against a white background that becomes, in turn, the black background for some text in white.
for the institutional items, this ‘o’ suggested both the ‘o’ in ‘oca’ and the notion of a hollow, the emptiness within the ring.
here is a silk-screened card in a5 format which we produced to divulge the visual identity on opening night.
