we created the visual identity for estÃºdio oca, a small music center opening up in pinheiros, sÃ£o paulo.
to avoid repetition, our idea was to create a visual identity for the space as opposed to a logo.
this identity hinges around some formal play on the word â€˜ocaâ€™, which means â€˜hollowâ€™ in portuguese. we led with a large black â€˜oâ€™ set against a white background that becomes, in turn, the black background for some text in white.
for the institutional items, this â€˜oâ€™ suggested both the â€˜oâ€™ in â€˜ocaâ€™ and the notion of a hollow, the emptiness within the ring.
here is a silk-screened card in a5 format which we produced to divulge the visual identity on opening night.
on the business card, we used the â€˜oâ€™ in the vertical.
at the same time as the cards, we also produced 3 digital invitations to the 3 inaugural events.
our initial proposal was that the invitations be printed with a fold in them, so that the number only appeared at the end of the reading.
