one of the things we tried to do in the graphic project was to expose the page structure and the printing process, using a grid of very evident square fields, pure cmyk colors and overlapping.
besides that, we always thought the layout development – a clear organization, few elements, expressive white spaces, and, above all, nothing done without purpose – a denial of almost everything you see in newsstands.
we initially proposed cyan and a grey pantone for the magazine's colors, but the pantone ended up being used with a color that changes on every issue. this variation showed itself to be interesting, but we could never submit the set of colors to and objective criteria.
another thing we constantly battled with is a principle of disorder and congestion that is imposed in some sections.
despite the obvious concessions, we learned a great deal and were able to significantly improve the graphic project along the first two years of the magazine.
and, month by month, we continue to deny the whole content of the newsstands.
