angela carne osso e os bacanais is a band that covers tropicália songs and has as inspiration for its name the character in the movie 'a mulher de todos' directed by rogério sganzerla.
we tried to compensate for the long name of the band creating a extremely synthetic sign: the initial 'a'.
the 'a' for 'angela' might be explored by many other meanings: the feminine definite article in portuguese, the musical note a, the first letter of the alphabet, what makes it into a 'sign of all signs'; a scream of love or hate.
the specific shape for the 'a' sign we proposed comes from gal costa's record 'india': a red bikini featured on the cover.
the possibility of interpreting 'a' as a cow's head also seemed interesting, since this is in fact the origin of this letter's design.
our proposal for the band's posters was the use of a red bleeding 'a' – only this logo would be print in large volume in offset.
in each specific occasion, a part of the posters would be printed again, in xerox.
to launch the identity, we made a series of posters, containing the images and phrases displaying the proposal of ‘a’.
